Freddy Mercury joined the band "The Hectics" in 1962, with whom he performed in smaller clubs. In 1963 he met Brian May and Roger Taylor, who later became the members of his world-famous band Queen. Queen was formed in 1970 and had its first performance at the London Music Hall. The band quickly found success and released their first album in 1974. Their second album "Queen II" was released a year later and brought them their international breakthrough.
In 1975, the album "A Night at the Opera" was released, which included the world-famous song "Bohemian Rhapsody". The song became a world hit and helped the band achieve worldwide fame. In the following years, Queen released other successful albums such as "News of the World" (1977), "Jazz" (1978) and "The Game" (1980). In 1981 the band participated in the concerts for Live Aid, which went down in music history as one of the greatest rock events of all time.
Queen continued to play successfully until the end of the 1980s, when Freddy Mercury became seriously infected with the AIDS virus. However, he did not publicly announce his illness until he was already in the final stages. Freddy Mercury died on November 24, 1991 at the age of 45 as a result of AIDS. His last words are said to have been, "I'm proud to be a part of Queen."
